Switching & Porting
How to switch away from Scalix Cloud or port your data — procedures, formats, timelines and charges (EU Data Act transparency)
Switching, Porting and Exit
This page is the transparency notice required by Articles 26 and 28 of Regulation (EU) 2023/2854 (the EU Data Act). It describes how to move from Scalix Cloud to another provider or to your own infrastructure, what data you can take, in which formats, on what timeline, and what it costs (nothing). The contractual commitments live in the Terms of Service, section "Switching, Porting and Exit"; if this page and the Terms ever differ, the Terms prevail.
Timeline
| Step | Period |
|---|---|
| You submit a Switching Request (in-console or written) | day 0 |
| Maximum notice period | up to 2 months (shorter if your plan allows) |
| Transition period (we support the transfer) | 30 calendar days |
| If technically unfeasible for a workload, we notify you within 14 working days with reasons and an alternative period | never exceeding 7 months |
| Erasure of remaining data after exit | within 30 days, residual backup copies destroyed within the backup-retention window |
You may withdraw a Switching Request, or keep your account, at any time before the transition ends.
Charges
We charge no switching charges and no data-egress charges for exit. Standard usage fees accrue only for services you continue to run during the transition. Optional premium migration services beyond the Data Act minimum (for example, bespoke data transformation) would be priced and agreed before you commit.
What you can export, per service
| Service | Export path | Format |
|---|---|---|
| Databases | scalix-cloud export db (CLI) or PG wire endpoint | PostgreSQL-compatible dump (schema SQL + data) |
| Object storage | Console, API, CLI (export storage), presigned URLs | Your objects, byte-identical |
| Container images | Standard OCI pull (docker pull) from the registry | OCI images |
| Functions & Run | Your source/config as supplied; CLI export | Original artifacts + JSON config |
| Domains & DNS records | API (/v1/domains) and CLI export | JSON |
| KV & configuration | CLI export | JSON |
| Audit & usage data | /v1/compliance/audit/export, CLI compliance audit-export | CSV / JSON |
| Everything at once | scalix-cloud export all | tar.gz bundle of the above |
The
scalix-cloudCLI is in preview. Every export above is also reachable without it — via the console, the REST API, the SDKs, or the standard PostgreSQL/OCI wire protocols — so your right to exit does not depend on the CLI. See CLI installation for current status.
Known restrictions: exports cover your data and configuration — not Scalix's platform software or internal implementation. Where a rare technical restriction applies to a specific workload, we identify it to you before the transition begins (Art 25(2)(e) specification).
Where your data lives
Customer application data is hosted in the European Union (data centres in Germany and Finland). The contracting entities are established in the United Kingdom and India, and limited account/support data may be accessed from those jurisdictions as described in the Privacy Policy. Measures against unlawful third-country governmental access — EU-located storage, encryption in transit, strict access controls, and our review-and-challenge policy for authority requests — are described in the Terms (section S.7) and on the Security page.
